'But you just don't know how the season is going to go, when the lulls and good points are. That stuff is hard to predict. I think we've scored more runs at home. That's the one thing I would say offensively. We've done a much better job here.'
Indeed, the Brewers were averaging 4.2 runs per game at home, compared to 3.75 on the road. If that doesn't sound like much of a difference, know that scoring four runs is usually the magic cutoff between winning and losing. As for facing the powerhouse Cubs, Counsell said, 'They've got a pretty complete team. What I attribute it to as much as anything is they have a deep roster. They have a lot of players who can help them win a game. It doesn't have to be the same guys every day.
'That's how you're a good team. They have some exciting young players who get a lot of the headlines. But they have others who provide depth on the team.'
Adcock ceremony: The Brewers announced they will induct former Milwaukee Braves first basemen Joe Adcock into the Miller Park Walk of Fame next Friday.
The on-field ceremony is scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m. before the game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Adcock's grandson, Joseph, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Adcock received 23 of 34 votes (67.61%), exceeding the threshold of 65% needed for election in balloting for the Walk of Fame. Adcock fell one vote shy of election in 2015.
Adcock spent 17 seasons in the major leagues, including 10 with the Braves. His tenure in Milwaukee spanned from 1953-'62 and he batted .285 with 239 homers and 760 RBI in 1,207 games.
