Shot in the Dark combines the aspects of retro platforming with point and click shooting, albeit with a floating crosshair instead of a mouse cursor. You play as a cowboy making their way through that looks like a version of Hell, complete with demons and demonic circles. The enemies range from small monsters to gigantic ones with mouths so wide that they cover their entire body. The color scheme keeps with the title, as you’re literally playing in the dark with the exception of the red and black that appears here and there.
The developer also warns potential speedrunners that there will be unseen forces in the game that will attempt to take you out. Considering that you die in just one hit, this will make fast runs exceptionally arduous, not that it will stop anyone from actually trying though. Shot in the Dark looks to be yet another addition to the already vast library of excellent indie titles. The game’s difficulty is sure to make even the most experienced players break a sweat, but that’s probably just the way they want it.
